Why does the winter weather make your skin dull? In winter, low temperatures, low humidity and strong, harsh winds deplete skin of its natural lipid layer, which keeps the skin from drying out. The dry air from furnaces and other heating sources also suck the moisture out of skin. To keep skin soft and supple, your goal is not to add moisture to skin, but to keep moisture in.
Your skin cells are turning over constantly. Exfoliating gets rid of your dead skin and reveals the new. It also gives you a smooth canvas to apply your makeup. Exfoliate your face 2-3 times a week. (Try St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub $3.99) Insert photo Don’t forget your body! Great skin doesn’t stop at your neck. (Try Neutrogena Energizing Sugar Body Scrub $9.99)
Using 2 different moisturizers is a plus. One that’s rich and creamy to wear at night to combat lines and wrinkles and a lighter formula to apply during the day. It protects your skin from harsh weather and helps with slowing down the aging process. (Try Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief $34.00)
We lick our lips thinking that we’re giving them moisture, but really our saliva contains an enzyme that strips and makes them dryer. Keep a lip balm on you at ALL times. It also serves as a good primer for your lipstick. Remember nothing looks good over dry crackly lips. (Try Kiehls Lip Balm $7.50)

Glowing, healthy skin is always in-style. Here’s how to achieve the “no makeup” look with a few of my favorite products.
1. For that “J Lo glow” add a few drops of Stila’s All Over Shimmer liquid luminizer to your foundation or moisturizer.
2. You want that real skin feel. Try Bare Minerals new BareSkin Foundation. It’s a correcting liquid foundation with a serum all in one.
3. Use a cheek cream that blends into your skin for a natural flushed look. I Like Josie Maran’s Coconut Watercolor cheek gelee in Poppy Paradise (you can also use it on your lips).
4. Apply several coats of mascara. Try Loreal’s Collagen Mascara for thick, lush lashes.
*Beauty Note: Keep your brows maintained for a overall polished look*
